Missouri Hunter Education Certification Class August 9-10, 2008
Gateway Outfitters will be offering a Missouri Hunter Education Certification Class August 9-10, 2008.
Classes begin at 9:00am and end by 4:00pm.
The class will be held at the Gateway Training Center located at 3820 West Clay, St. Charles, MO 63301. This is the building located at the front of Gateway Outfitters parking lot.
The cost of the class is $5.00. This is a non-refundable fee for both youth and adults. All hunters who complete the class will receive a temporary certification which can immediately be used to purchase hunting tags.
Minimum age for certification - 11 years of age by 08/10/08 (State Law). Exception - If the student will turn 11 years of age within 30 days of the last class offered for the year, he/she may be enrolled and will be allowed to take the test, however, the temporary certification will NOT be given to the student. The temporary certification will be mailed to the student on their 11th birthday by Busch Wildlife Area personnel.
No student should be registered for the class unless they meet the above criteria.
Any student under the age of 16 will be required to bring their birth certificate or other legal proof of age to class on Saturday February 23, for verification at check-in. Any student under the age of 16 who has not presented satisfactory proof of age by the end of class on Sunday, August 10, will be allowed to take the test, however, will NOT be given the temporary certification until they have presented the chief instructor with proof of age.
Any student under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult at least 18 years of age. This is handled on a case by case basis and exceptions may be made at the discretion of the chief instructor. The parent or accompanying adult need not be registered or enrolled in the class.
All persons enrolled in the Hunter Education class must successfully pass the written examination at the conclusion of the third night. The examination consists of 25 multiple choice questions and a passing score of 80% is mandated by the State. Any student who fails to achieve a passing grade may be re-tested at the discretion of the chief instructor.
Special consideration will be given to any student with a reading disability and at the discretion of the chief instructor, the test will be read to the student, who will be responsible for selecting the correct answer. Any private reading session of the test must be monitored by a neutral adult.
Any persons who are hearing impaired or have a disability that would cause them difficulty in the classroom must notify the chief instructor in advance so that reasonable accommodations can be provided. The Department of Conservation normally requires 30 days prior notice if a signer is required for the hearing impaired.
Any disruptive conduct which is detrimental to the classroom learning environment and the safe handling and use of firearms my result in a student being dismissed from the class if the behavior is not modified after appropriate warning has been given by an instructor. Horseplay is strictly prohibited.
Cell phones must be turned off or placed on vibrate to prevent disruption to classroom activities.
With the exception of law enforcement officers and certified Hunter Education instructors, no person shall be permitted to bring a firearm or ammunition into the classroom.

Missouri concealed carry class
Gateway Outfitters will be conducting 3 eight hour classes for Missouri
Concealed Carry. This course is approved by the standards set forth by Missouri State Statutes. This class will cover Safe Handling of Handguns, Care & Cleaning, Basic Shooting Techniques, Home Safety & Storage and Missouri Law.
All Classes will be taught by Missouri State Licensed Firearms Instructors with an accumulated 100 years of experience in both law-enforcement and civilian training.
Classes conducted will have a minimum of 10 and no more than 20
students. Those applicants that successfully complete this course of
training and qualification will be eligible to apply for their Missouri
Concealed Carry permit.
